As reported by Spanish source Fichajes, Manchester United is looking to acquire Levante striker Etta Eyong.

The Red Devils strengthened their forward line by signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig last summer. The Slovenian netted his first goal during the 3-1 Premier League loss to Brentford on Saturday.

Fichajes indicates that Manchester United aims to enhance their attacking options and has its sights set on Eyong. They have taken a serious interest in the 21-year-old, who has scored 4 goals and provided 3 assists in just 7 appearances in La Liga this season.

Eyong joined Levante from Villarreal for £2.6 million earlier this summer. Villarreal retains a first refusal clause, giving them leverage in any potential negotiations. Additionally, a sell-on clause could also play a role in discussions.

Impressive Opening

The Cameroonian talent had only 7 appearances at Villarreal over two seasons, scoring twice. Consequently, he moved to Levante, where he has had a fantastic start to the current campaign.

Despite sitting 16th in the league table with just 5 points, Eyong stands out with 7 goal contributions across as many matches. If he continues this form, a transfer to a bigger club seems likely.

Fichajes suggests that Chelsea has already approached the player, but United will be eager to secure his services before the Blues can finalize any deal. Sesko is currently the top striker under manager Ruben Amorim, but the club may seek additional competition.

Joshua Zirkzee has struggled to provide quality in the attack since his transfer from Serie A side Bologna last year. Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund faced challenges during his time at Manchester United and has now joined Napoli on a season-long loan.

The Serie A champions have a conditional obligation to purchase the Dane next summer. In contrast, Eyong appears to be a bright prospect, averaging 5 duels with 2 recoveries per game, in addition to his goal contributions for Levante this season.

Manchester United will be hoping to sign him for a relatively modest fee when the transfer window opens in January. If that occurs, Zirkzee may be allowed to depart the club due to his lack of consistent first-team action.
