Liverpool is reportedly in contention with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United to secure the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

The 22-year-old joined the City Ground from Newcastle United before last season. He had a promising debut campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, contributing to eight goals over 33 Premier League starts.

In addition, the Englishman helped his team qualify for European competition. This season, he has elevated his performance, earning himself a place in the England national team for the upcoming international fixtures.

Now, TBR Football‘s Bailey reports that Liverpool has expressed interest in signing Anderson after closely observing his development lately.

Liverpool is not the only club interested, as Tottenham is also keeping an eye on him and monitoring his performances with a potential approach in mind.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is planning to overhaul their midfield next year and sees Anderson as a viable target. Newcastle is also interested in bringing the midfielder back.

Competition

Nevertheless, Nottingham Forest has no plans to let him go in the near future, as Ange Postecoglou aims to make Anderson a vital part of his starting XI for the foreseeable future.

The young talent has four years remaining on his current contract, meaning Nottingham Forest isn’t in a hurry to sell. Consequently, either Manchester United, Liverpool, or Tottenham will need to present a substantial offer to convince Postecoglou’s side to part ways with him, with the player valued at approximately £28m according to Transfermarkt.

Anderson prefers to operate as a deep-lying playmaker and is also adept at a box-to-box role. He has even been utilized as a wide forward during his time at Newcastle.

The Englishman is showing potential to develop into a world-class midfielder, demonstrating an ability to receive the ball under pressure, execute line-breaking passes from deep, and work hard defensively.

Thus, the Nottingham Forest star would be a significant acquisition for Tottenham, Liverpool, or Manchester United if any of these clubs manage to secure his services next year.
